Trials over detained activists to be held today 12:14, 04/07/2007
Youth leaders Ales Kalita and Paval Siaradzienka were detained in Minsk near the office of the BNF Party, as Krystsina Shatsikava, a UCP (United Civil Party) member told BelaPAN.
According to Shatsikava, police officers were trying to detain activist of the BNF Party youth structure Nastassia Azarka yesterday around 2 p.m. A.Kalita and P.SIaradzienka ran out from the office to help the girl. Azarka avoided the detention, but A.Kalita and P.SIaradzienka were arrested by police officers dressed in black uniform.
The young activists were taken to the interior department of Minsk Central district. Agitation materials with appeals to the Belarusian people to join the “European march “For Freedom!” planned to be held later this year in October, were found with the boys. Thus, A.Kalita and P.SIaradzienka were taken to the special distribution jail in Akrestsin Street. The trial is to take place on July 4, in the court of Minsk Central district.
