Belarus’ Prime Minister Siargey Sidorski spoke about the losses of the Belarusian economy induced by the changes in the energy resources trade with Russia, at the session of the government of the “union state” held in Moscow. Meanwhile, the Government reports to the State about significant progress in the economy within the past five months: gold and exchange currency reserves of the country enjoy rapid growth, the budget has been implemented with positive balance of approximately $ 742mln in the national cash equivalent and the number of unprofitable enterprises is decreasing. Well-known economist Alena Rakava gives a reply to this question posed by the web-site «Наше мнение» (“Our meaning”).

- These losses can hide in the interior non-payments among enterprises. For example, there are enterprises that cannot pay for electricity and heating to the company Belenergo on the new rates. And Belenergo can run into debt to Beltopgaz. Or Beltopgaz will not pay to Beltransgaz. The data on the enterprises’ payments for the energy used are restricted.

In general, the economy still survives because the energy enterprises were deprived of their innovation funds and almost entire profit. In the result, the extra charges are not as high as they could have been.
