Miasnikovich upheld Chavez’s “scientific” projects

As chairperson of the presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Mikhal Miasnikovich said at a meeting with the scientific delegation from Venezuela, the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences welcomes collaboration of Belarus and Venezuela in the spheres of biological research, information and geographic information technologies.

“Here, in Belarus, these scientific directions enjoy rapid development, since these are the directions of the sixth technological mode. These are vital achievements for all the spheres of their utilization,” - M.Miasnikovich said.

According to him, the parties have defined a whole range of mutual projects: “These are the projects in biotechnologies, agrarian field and pharmacology; in everything which has to do with chemical and radioactive polluters of the environment, including soil pollution with heavy metals salts; atmosphere cleaning policies. These are special projects for raising the efficiency of rise crops, forest plantations, legumes and many others.”

Moreover, as the head of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences reported, the issues of the cooperation in the sphere of geographic information technologies have been agreed.

“I believe that together with the State committee on science and technologies we will elaborate the mechanisms for financing and organization the implementation of these projects,” - M.Miasnikovich said characterizing Venezuela as “Belarus’ strategic partner.”
“We are delighted to see the friendly trust relationship which has been established between our leaders, - the head of the National Academy of Sciences emphasized. - And this will stipulate for the progress in our cooperation.”

“I am convinced that in future we will see new projects and new initiatives both from the Belarusian and Venezuelan parts,” - the head of the presidium of the National Academy of Sciences said.

As L.Marcano emphasized, as present there are 70 thousand graduate students in Venezuela; 20 per cent of them would like to take scientific degree abroad, in particular - in Belarus / BelaPAN.
