12 monuments of Lenin preserved in Babruisk :: Charter'97 :: News

Institutions that should perform functions of both cleaner and sentry were appointed to each monument of Lenin’s 12 statues, by the order of Babruisk municipal executive committee.

The sanatorium n.a. Lenin, a department of Leninski district administration, public corporation “FanDok”, a meat plant and the 40th security center became responsible “for Lenin”.

Moreover, guardians were appointed to more than twenty monuments for the Great October Revolution of 1917, as well as the war glory monuments for warriors of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. Enterprises and institutions were empowered to guard 40 tombs of the Soviet Union Heroes and soldiers-internationalists, buried in the town on the river Biarezina. Twenty memorial tablets commemorating remarkable events and people were registered at the personnel of various organizations.

Basically, the responsibility for the monuments was divided on the territorial principle. Thus, the functions of the patron and guardian of Lenin’s bust placed in front of the Belarusian State Economic University subsidiary, former House of Officers, were granted to the university.

- This system will facilitate rendering individual aid to the historic and cultural heritage, - Vadzim Scherbich, the head of the culture department of Babruisk municipal executive committee, believes.
The new guardians were warned: the punishment for neglect (if it ever occurs) of the unexpected guard of historic values will be rigorous.
