Russia won’t give Lukashenka more money 17:38, 06/07/2007
In July Russian Finance Ministry is to move forward a proposal to the government on granting a credit to Belarus, told Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin to journalists Friday. As said by him, there haven’t been any proposals from Belarus on increasing the sum of the credit. The sum of the credit is $1.5 billion. As we have informed, Russian newspaper Kommersant reported that Belarusian authorities ask a large credit from Russia, and now not even $1.5 billion, but 2 billion are at stake.
A.Kudrin told that now the period of examination and analysis of the proposal of Belarus about the credit has finished; and the process reaches a “technical stage”, Interfax informs.
The minister notes that further events would depend on the results of studying the report of Finance Ministry by the government. After that a month or two will be necessary for finishing the procedure of granting the credit. Minister has also added that the decision whether the credit would be given in separate tranches or in one tranche, hadn’t been adopted yet.
