Ideologists to work with “Za svobodu” movement members
14:35, 09/07/2007

The participants of the constituent conference of “Movement “Za svobodu” (“For Freedom”) from all over Belarus are summoned to ideological departments of regional executive committees and justice departments. The officials want the activists to give written explanations and prove their participation in the conference which was held May 20 in Grodna.

“People from the justice department call me and my friends who took part in the constituent conference “Movement “Za svobody” and pose questions on what happened on May 20 in Grodna, - Artsiom Dubski, one of the movement’s founders from the town of Asipovichy, says. - They invite us to come to the district ideological department and give written explanations.”

According to Uladzimir Katsora, the movement’s coordinator for Gomel region, the justice regional department received the lists of the constitutors from the Justice Ministry and now is checking each of them.

“We are summoned to the justice department and asked to give written explanations on the contents of the constituent conference and to confirm the signature in the registration list,” - the activist remarked.
In this situation “Movement “Za svobodu” calls upon its members to fulfill only legal demands of the Justice Ministry. According to the law “On public association”, the corresponding registration institution, which is the Justice Ministry only, is empowered to verify the documents presented for state registration of a public association. All other attempts of the officials to get written explanations in the ideological departments are illegal.
