Ludzmila Graznova: «The article doesn’t touch upon Artur Finkievich’s public activity»
15:09, 11/07/2007

Yesterday Radio Liberty’s web-site and then the web-site of Charter’97 reported on political prisoner Artur Finkievich. In the colony Artur met with human rights activist Ludzmila Graznova, who afterwards wrote an article, published in the newspaper “Svobodnyie Novosti Plus”, on the life of the political prisoner in jail. After that head of Magiliou special commandant’s office lieutenant colonel Aliaksandar Lamaza warned Artur that a criminal case could be initiated against him as a regime persistent disturber and that the place of imprisonment could be altered. Ludzmila Graznova comments on the situation to the press-center of Charter’97.

- According to the information given to Radio Liberty, the article touched upon Finkievich’s public activity that he does during his sentence. In this regard I’d like to comment on the information as the author of the article “Jail Didn’t Break Him”. The public activity of Artur Finkievich, who is now passing his sentence, is not mentioned in the article at all. Other words and phrases are used to friendly terms of Artur with prisoners. Those who pass the sentence in such a colony can make friends, can give them support and enjoy theirs, can’t they? The choice of contacts obviously implies conformity of ideas and mutual acquaintances. It is natural for every person. Secondly, those few phrases about Artur’s friendly relationship are not based on his words; they are based solely on my personal impression. Artur didn’t say anything in a microphone, he wasn’t interviewed. Phrases about his contacts are pure guesses of mine based on conversations with his friends,” - said Ludzmila Graznova.
