Might-be Autumn Amnesty
14:29, 17/07/2007

Minister of the Interior of Belarus Lieutenant-General of militia Uladzimir Navumau does not exclude that the law on another amnesty may be adopted this year in autumn.

“Now the document (the bill on amnesty-IF) is being developed. The only thing to wait for is another session of the House of Representatives. The deputies agree to adopt it in the two readings at once. I suppose it to happen in October”, V.Navumau reported in his interview with the “Sovetskaya Belorussia” on Tuesday.

As far as the AIDS- and TB-infected prisoners release is concerned U. Navumau mentioned”The AIDS infection penetrates to the penitentiary establishments from the outside –the convicts come to prison with the AIDS infection in their blood. We give medical treatment to prisoners. And on the day of their release we send their medical certificate with the list of diseases they suffer from to medical establishments of their last domicile.

“A special rehabilitation penitentiary establishment for prisoners cured from the TB is to appear in Belarus”, the minister said.

He also stressed “I am sure that times more is done for improving their health in prisons than if they were free, living their usual way of life which is very often too far from being the best”.

“Be sure that the released prisoners will be of no infection danger to the public”, the minister stressed.
