At the Belarusian embassy in Warsaw the picket dedicated to the Day of Solidarity with the Belarusian political prisoners and families of the disappeared oppositionists was held. Around 15 people were holding white –red-white flags and “Dictator to Prison” “Freedom to Political Prisoners “posters and portraits of the disappeared politicians.
The well-known Belarusian artist Ales Pushkin participated in the action. He addressed the public with a speech:
“We, Belarusians, those who live in Belarus and in Poland, have to remember that it is impossible to build anything, to achieve the goal through murders, persecution of those who think differently. It is necessary to make investigation, to find and punish those who are guilty of the crimes no matter who they are .Then we have to confess and promise that it will never happen again”, the artist said in his interview with the Radio Svaboda.
The picketers lighted red and white candlesticks and placed them at the embassy’s entrance.
As it became known to the Charter’97 press-center, before the action Ales Pushkin submitted the invitation for the embassy’s employees for the East-European Conference dedicated to the issue of authoritarian ruling at which he was to make a special report. But none of the embassy’s employees came to the conference.
