Green Party liquidated by Justice Ministry :: Charter'97 :: News

Justice Ministry has sent to the Supreme Court a statement on liquidation of the Belarusian Ecological Green party (BEZ). As the press-service of Justice Ministry informs, the motivation for that was inability to fulfill norms of he Belarusian law by the party.

In line with Article 10 of Belarusian law “On political parties” at least 1000 persons are needed for creation and activities of a political party. Besides, the party should have a Minsk city and regional branches in most regions of the country, the BelaPAN informs.

Considering that Belarusian Ecological Green party (BEZ) does not correspond to the status of a political party, Justice Ministry offered the party to take measures on restoration of the status of a political party increasing the number of people to the necessary minimum and creating branches, or to take a decision on self-liquidation.

In March this year Justice Ministry received a protocol of the party meeting where its liquidation was discussed. However, the Ministry hadn’t received documents confirming authority of the meeting.

Hereunder Justice Ministry adopted a decision to initiate liquidation of the party in a judicial procedure.
