Motor rally of solidarity continues 13:05, 20/07/2007
Activists of youth democratic movements continue a motor rally dedicated to the birthday of Zmitser Dashkevich, but without their cars, a politician Paval Sevyarynets said to BelaPAN.
As said by him, four cars which started the motor rally on July 19 at the noon were arrested by police in Dzyarzhynsk (Minsk district) and towed to a penalty parking.
“It will last at least 3 days. Verification of number plates is taking place there, and then the cars are to be checked for being itemized as stolen. Many checks are needed. Now they went to Baranavichy to meet with Yaraslau Hryshchenya, who faces criminal liability for activities on behalf of an unregistered organization,” P. Sevyarynets said.
“The next meeting is to take place in Salihorsk, where we are to visit another accused under the same article, Ivan Shyla. Unfortunately, Nyasvizh is more likely to be excluded from our trip, as our friend Anastasiya Azarka had been summoned to Minsk regional prosecutor’s office where accusation could be presented to her,” P. Sevyarynets said.
As the BelaPAN informed, participants of the motor rally are following the route Minsk - Baranavichy (Brest region) – Nyasvizh (Minsk region) – Salihorsk (Minsk region) – Mahilyou – Shklou (Mahilyou region) – Minsk. Law-enforcing agencies of these cities have initiated or plan to initiate criminal proceedings against opposition activists under Article 193-1 of the Criminal Code (activities of behalf of an unregistered organization). Zmitser Dashkevich was convicted under the same article on November 1, 2006.
