Belarus asks Gazprom deferment of payment for gas 15:05, 20/07/2007
That’s the aim of Beltransgaz delegation which is holding negotiations in Moscow. The both sides confirm the fact of negotiations, but do not reveal details.
However, as said by the first vice Prime Minister of Belarusian government Uladzimir Syamashka, Belarus has to settle debts before July 23, Radio Svaboda informs.
The indebtedness emerged as from the beginning of the year Belarus paid only $55 per 1,000 cubic metres of gas instead of $100. That caused the debt that has reached almost $500 million.
In the first half of 2007 Belarusian enterprises paid the full cost for gas to the Belarusian state. According to unofficial information, money collected due to the difference in prices, and $625 million Gazprom transferred for Beltransgaz shares, are allegedly placed to a special account of the national bank of Belarus.
