On introducing the new head of the KGB Lukashenka cleared up the reasons of the former KGB leaders’ dismissal. In addition to his conventional reprimands of executive discipline standards lowering Lukashenko mentioned other claims on the body’s activities. The head of the state’s irritation was caused by the excessive initiatives of the former KGB leader and his autonomous position.
“I have already mentioned that I am the country’s president and I will not permit the existence of any other power centers. The KGB’s officials are the people’s soldiers and they must fulfill their functions. I have never asked you to surpass the president and make decisions for myself. And the main thing is that I will not permit anyone to aggravate the situation in the country and make people in the country, especially upper officials, who must work comfortably and without any stress, get afraid of decision-making and even of walking along the streets. It will never be like that. There isn’t enough even simple order at the KGB”, complained the head of the state yesterday.
“I am bitterly sorry to state that the KGB has failed to arrange the systemic activities on protection of the state security by updated means. Moreover, the executive discipline and organizational activities have tended to weaken recently, the professional level have decreased in all the directions of the KGB’s activities causing in certain cases the obvious failures .If the committee’s leadership fails to provide well-coordinated functioning, than they will be shifted to the less responsible positions and will give way to others”, the head of the state said.
