Militia overdid in oppositionist’s upbringing 17:07, 23/07/2007
20 August in Minsk near Yakub Kolas Street Maksim Syargiets was detained for wearing the “For Freedom” t-shirt. The physical force applied by the militiaman resulted in heart attack of the detained.
Militiamen A.Praded and S.Knyazev conducted the detainment. The activist was brought to the department of the Savetsky district. There the reports on the detainment and on seizure of the published matter (packet with the European march stickers was found near the place of the detainment) were made. The youth activist’s attempt of defending his rights was stopped by Major of militia Yu.A.Lobkis who struck the youngster against the back of his head. That caused the activist’s heart attack as he suffers chronicle heart disease. The emergency ambulance was sent for. The doctors advised hospitalization.
The claims on the militia officer’s exceeding his authorities are being prepared at the present moment for the public prosecutor’s office, department for internal affairs and other law enforcement bodies.
