Sukharenka’s mysterious disappearance revealed :: Charter'97 :: News

Stsyapan Sukharenka was found neither at the investigatory isolation ward, as it was reported by several information internet agencies, nor in Moscow but in his home village.

The “Narodnaya Volya” newspaper discovered the former chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus Stsyapan Sukharenka. He told the Narodnaya Volya how his dismissal was related the chairman of the State Control Committee of Belarus Zyanon Lomats’ beating.

Styapan Sukharenka is not at the investigatory isolation ward together with his first deputy Vasyl Dzemyantsei, as it was reported by several information internet agencies, but in the country-side together with his family. Sukharenka is not under drinking bout but he is safe and sound and looks good. He is well aware of being between jobs but knows nothing about the supposed appointment… He says he feels good as usual. He is reluctant to comment on the rumors of his arrest. “Different conjectures about me have been spread, said Sukharenka in his interview to the Narodnaya Volya. Now I am on vacation, living free life. I am going fishing. You can join me, if you wish. And as far as my retirement is concerned I don’t want to discuss it with anybody. My retirement is president’s decision and it is not to be discussed… As far as Lomats is concerned, if there were any provocation against the minister for the internal affairs Uladzimir Navumau, as some sights run , than he and not me would be in my shoes…”
