Flag over Vitsebsk caused turmoil in militia :: Charter'97 :: News

Last night the white-red-white flag appeared over the roof at 41 Frunze Street next to 41a Frunze Street housing the Vitebsk regional department of the ministry of interior.

Myron’s flag had been flying above the avenue for several minutes because it was immediately noticed by militiamen. Several patrol vehicles drove to the place of the incident, the fire engine with a fire escape was set for. The white-red-white flag was removed by the ministry of emergency staff-members under the supervision of the militia.
The militiamen also wrote down the passport data of the correspondents of the independent mass media who were watching the affair and made a search of their personal handbags. The security men got mostly interested in the photo-camera and the Polish visas in the journalists’ passports.
