The group of human rights’ activists submitted the documents for registration of the public human rights association “Vyasna” to the ministry of justice. As it was reported to the BelaPAN by the human rights activist Uladzimir Labkovich, the documents were submitted 23 July. In compliance with the law the reply is to be given in a month time.
“I am absolutely sure that the chances of the human rights association to be registered are next to zero”, Labkovich said. We consider the submission of the documents for the Vyasna registration as the public action which is to manifest that the right of establishment of public associations aimed at human rights activities does not work in Belarus”, Labkovich remarked. He also informed about his talk with the ministry of justice representative. It became clear after the talk that “the political decision has been already taken and the only thing to wait for is the written answer of the ministry”. The organization to be established is the assignee to the “Vyasna” human rights association which was terminated by the Supreme Court in October 2003.
