Judge Tsitsyankova and area militiaman Keniukh don’t wish to go to the European Union 18:15, 08/08/2007
The youth leader Alyaksei Shidlousky has been sentenced today to 5 nights in prison. The judgment was made by Judge Alena Tsitsyankova .The area militiaman senior lieutenant Igar Keniukh gave evidence in the court that the activist had been supposedly swearing at the department of internal affairs of the Partizansky district. The KGB staff members who had detained Shidlousky for distributing the informative matter didn’t appear before the judge.
It is to be mentioned that for already 14 nights Shidlousky has been kept at the remand jail in Okrestsina Street. He was guarded to the court for another trial. The KGB staff members came to his apartment 25 July the day after his detainment by the militia. The activist was taken to the militia department where the corresponding report on his minor disorderly conduct was made. Shidlousky was again supposedly swearing in the public place. And if after the first detainment Shidlousky had not been immediately sued (the trial was postponed for 8 August due to the improperly made reports) on 25 July the youth leader was immediately sentences to 15 nights in prison. The activist’s arrest was certainly connected with the Independence Day celebration by the democratic forces which were due on 27 July.
Over the years of Lukashenka’s governance not a single militiamen has ever been charged with swearing. Maybe because they do not swear but they simply talk in the dirty language.
Now the democratic forces make a list of all those who participate in the repressions and submit their names to embassies of the European Union’s countries. It is well-known that since 1 January 2008 all the neighbor countries of Belarus except Russia and Ukraine are to enter the Shengen zone. The Belarusian officials participating in the repressions have lost almost any chance to travel to the European Union’s countries.
