Just Released!
11:10, 08/08/2007

Yesterday night the rest of the activists arrested during the Day of Independence celebration and kept in prison in Okrestina Street were at last released, among those being the youth leader Pavel Sevyarinets, activists Ales Chernishou and Alyaksei Shein.

They were met by several dozens of activists of the youth movement, the majority of who belong to the unregistered “Young Front’ organization and representatives of the United Civil Party and the BNF. The youth leader Pavel Sevyarinets made the impromptu presentation of his newly published book “Letters from the Woods” there. Nobody remembers the book to be ever presented near the prison’s gate.
“The prison in Okrestina Street two years ago (I served my previous term of late 2004 here) looked differently, told Pavel Sevyarinets to the Radio Svaboda. It became tougher here. The regimen is stricter. It is not allowed to bring foodstuffs to prisoners. And this time there were four stoolpigeons in my cell. The attempt to interrogate Alyaksei Shein and me concerning the Belarusian Christian Democratic Party was made but we refused to participate in any investigation procedures without our lawyer”.
Charter’97 reminds that Alyaksandr Charnishou , participant of the program named after Kalinousky was arrested for 15 nights after being asked for a his talk at the KGB.
The impromptu presentation of the Pavel Sevyarinets‘book and the meeting of political prisoners by their collaborators were watched by the militiamen and the special regiment staff.
It is to be mentioned that Pavel Sevyarinets served two years of hard labor for organizing mass actions against falsification of the results of the referendum giving Lukashenka the right to be unrestrictedly elected for the presidency.
