Ploscha demonstrated at the Belarusian –Ukrainian boarder (Photo) 18:28, 16/08/2007

Yuri Khaschavatsky‘s documentary “Ploscha” about the March 2006 events in Minsk has been demonstrated at the Belarusian –Ukrainian boarder. People waiting for their turn to cross the boarder form the Ukrainian side are approaching the car with a white-red-white flag and watching the film fragments on the notebook. The documentary DVDs are presented to everybody who cares.

The PC monitors and other office equipment were taken from the office of the editors’ board of the non-state –owned “Narodnaya Volya” newspaper by the court officials on Friday 10 August when the management of the periodical was out of the office.

The militiamen who broke the arm of the Young Democrats’ activist Alyaksandr Shumkevich have not but been punished, yet. Over a fortnight passed since the claim for health damage caused by the militiamen had been lodged but it gave no results but the redirection of the claim to the public prosecutors’ office of the Leninsky district of Hrodna. According to Alyaksandr Shumkevich, he hasn’t got any information about his case, and the results of investigation, if any, may be only supposed.

15 August vice –speaker of the Polish Senate Krzysztof Putra was refused of entering Belarus. Krzysztof Putra accompanied by the deputy head of the Senate office Romuald Lanckowski were going to Hrodna for participation in the events dedicated to the Day of Polish Army. Today in the Hrodna region the advisor of the Prime Minister of Poland Michal Dworcik was detained. After his documents being checked he was released but the policymaker hurriedly left the country .The leader of the largest Polish party ”Civil Plarform” Donald Tusk and leader of the parliamentary group ”Solidarity with Belarus” Robert Tishkevich were also refused of entering Belarus.

Belarusian policymakers and public figures Andrei Klimau, Alyaksandr Kazulin, Zmitser Dashkevich, Artur Finkevich, Mikalai Autukhovich, and Yuri Leonau are still kept in Belarusian prisons for their political views. The 16th day of every month is traditionally celebrated in Belarus and all over the world as the Day of Belarusian Solidarity. In different parts of the globe the actions calling the Belarusian authorities for releasing political prisoners and starting democratic changes in the country are taken.
