Belarusian policymakers and public figures Andrei Klimau, Alyaksandr Kazulin, Zmitser Dashkevich, Artur Finkevich, Mikalai Autukhovich, and Yuri Leonau are still kept in Belarusian prisons for their political views. The 16th day of every month is traditionally celebrated in Belarus and all over the world as the Day of Belarusian Solidarity. In different parts of the globe the actions calling the Belarusian authorities for releasing political prisoners and starting democratic changes in the country are taken.
Today Belarusians in their homes will light the candles of solidarity with all the people repressed in Belarus .They will also come out into the streets and squares of cities and towns calling the authorities for taking the way of reforms.
Street actions of solidarity, conferences, exhibitions, film presentations dedicated to Belarus are to be taken on 16 August in many countries of the world-Poland, Ukraine, Russia, France, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, the USA.
