Minister for economy of Belarus Mikalai Zaichanka is sure that the country can’t do without the atomic power engineering.” Due to the present day state of relationship with Russia and gas prices the power engineering has become very costly”, declared the minister for economy in Minsk specifying that the majority of heat and electric power plants are gas powered. “We are loosing competitiveness on the tariffs and under such conditions we can’t do without the APP”, he said.

Decision-taking on APP construction, according to the minister, has been”principally completed”.”The strategy has been designated and the tactical steps are to be specified”, Mikalai Zaichanka said. The minister mentioned that by 2020 Belarus has to decrease the energy consumption of its industry by 60 % and to use local types of fuel more actively.

“To provide such saving of power resources and to involve local types of fuel we shall be targeted at the nonconventional power sources”, he added.
