The today’s priorities of education are ideological and social upbringing .That was declared by the chairman of the educational committee of the Minsk city executive committee Uladzimir Scherba who spoke at the pedagogical forum of the employees of educational organizations in the great hall of the Palace of Republic 22 August. Scherba particularly stressed the” problem of “dirty” internet “which is accessible to schoolchildren and students who get information there including the anti-state information”.

21 August at around 8 p.m. 40 activists of the public campaign ”Jeans for Freedom’!” came to Pobediteley Avenue (former Masherov Avenue)in Minsk. The youth activists flew the flags of the European Union and marched to the Moskva cinema. There the street banner running “Our Time has Come! European March - 14 October 2007” was installed. 
Belarus paid for gas 1 day ahead of schedule 13:25, 22/08/2007

Belarus made a complete settlement for the Russian gas delivered in July, the Belatransgaz representative reported through the ITAR-TASS. As stipulated by the contract concluded by the Beltransgaz and Gazprom the gas price for Belarus is to be USD 100 for one thousand cubic meters, i.e. two times last year price.

Minsk is planning to increase state subsidies to deliverers of the Russian oil to Belarus by railway. The Belarusian government considers that this will help to increase oil deliveries to the national oil refineries which have been almost idling of late.
