Non-private sector accounts for 76 percent of tax arrears in Minsk, tax ministry says 18:53, 31/08/2007
State companies and organizations accounted for 75.8 percent of all tax arrears in Minsk in the first seven months of this year, said the tax ministry on Wednesday, BelaPAN reported.
Companies under the authority of the industry ministry and the Belarusian State Light Industry Concern (Bellehpram) accounted for most part of the arrears, 38.7 and 31.4 percent, respectively.
Grave non-payers included the Kamvol textile company, the Planar precision engineering plant, the Minsk Automatic Lines Plant and the Minsk instrument-making company.
According to the ministry, tax arrears of state companies and organizations fell by 6.3 percent in July, while the private sector`s tax arrears rose by 18 percent.
Payments recovered by tax authorities without recourse to court amounted to two percent of the city consolidated budget. Tax arrears reportedly totaled 23.4 billion rubels as of August 1, dropping by 300 million rubels, 1.4 percent, in July.
Value-added tax accounted for 34.6 percent of the arrears, followed by turnover tax with 19.4 percent, income tax with 13.5 percent, land tax paid by legal entities for 9.4 percent and real estate tax with 7.7 percent.
