Lyceum is ours (Photo Report)
13:03, 03/09/2007

1 September pupils, their parents and teachers of the National State Humanitarian Lyceum after Yakub Kolas closed down by the state authorities in 2003 marked opening of the new academy year at the entrance of their former building at 21 Kirov Street.

The staff of the lyceum where 90 girls and boys are going to study this year gathered at the building entrance where for 12 years the academic institution had been housed. And now after the reconstruction it houses the Central District court of the capital.

The Lyceum head, film director and pedagogue Uladzimir Kolas mentioned that the building had been transferred to the Lyceum by the country’s government and expressed his confidence that its loss is temporary. The Lyceum director mentioned that despite of all its problems the Belarusian Lyceum continues functioning, new schoolchildren who have joint the academic institution are to continue the traditions of one of the leading secondary schools of the country and congratulated the people with the holiday.

Then the lyceum students laid the flowers on the porch of its former building .An hour later when the people dispersed the communal service staff removed the flowers…

It is to be mentioned that the lyceum is an unofficially functioning academic institution which students independently study the subjects for the high school course and then take correspondent examinations.
