CSTO General Secretary meeting with Lukashenka and Belarusian Siloviks 15:38, 03/09/2007
3 September the working trip of General Secretary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Borduzha to Belarus has started. The meetings with the top officials of the Republic of Belarus: Alyaksandr Lukashenka, the secretary of the Security Council and defense minister are to be held.
It is officially reported that the discussion of preparation issues for sittings of the foundation bodies of the CSTO, i.e. council of foreign and defense ministers, committee of secretaries of the security councils , and for the session of the council for collective security which are to be held in September –October this year is intended with the highest authorities of the Republic of Belarus as the presiding party at the Collective Security Treaty Organization”, N. Borduzha reported before leaving for Minsk.
According to CSTO General Secretary, there are over 20 issues on the agenda of each forthcoming forum.”I consider the time of Belarus chairmanship as one of the most effective periods of the organization activities. For the expired year we managed to coordinate a large number of documents, in particular, the set of documents on peacekeeping activities, on creation of new working bodies of the CSTO, i.e. antiterrorist committee, coordination councils for emergency situations, for prevention of illegal migration, the set of documents for improving the normative legal basis of military technological and military economic cooperation and others”, Nikolai Borduzha declared.
They specified at the Secretariat that the sittings of the committee of secretaries of the security councils and council of defense ministers of the organization are to be held in Bishkek 20 and 28 September this year, respectively, and the sitting of the foreign ministers and the summit of the CSTO member states in Dushanbe to be 4 and 6 October, respectively. That was reported to the REGNUM information agency at the press-service of the CSTO secretariat.
