Gaidukevich dismissed from post of special representative to Europe
13:57, 14/09/2007

Policymaker was informed about that yesterday night when he was packing for a business trip."I haven’t got that appointment anymore, there is no job title of the kind on the staff list of the foreign ministry at present, the policymaker declared."

Yesterday Euroradio learned that on Thursday Syargei Gaidukevich was to go to Japan as the special representative of Belarus to Europe. But today it became known that if he goes there than in another position.

It is funny that several years ago in his interview with the "Belgazeta" newspaper the policymaker declared that he would gladly transfer his responsibilities to the foreign ministry:

"I would be very glad if it happens because for me as the party leader, the deputy my present job contributes to my image-making. I have read a lot of the insults addressed to me and that has made me glad. It means that I got the target".

Thus, this event may be to a certain extent treated as self-dismissal.

Though another point is remarkable here. It is unknown hoe effective Gaidukevich’s activities as special representative to Europe might be but as the policymaker he has used his position to its full extent. After the dismissal of speaker of the "house of representatives" Uladzimir Kanapliou it was Gaidukevich to announce his wish of running for the speaker’s post. When the Euroradio asked Gaidukevich if that wish had caused his dismissal, the policymaker laughed and replied:"No Comment".

However at the press office of the foreign ministry the message was neither approved nor disapproved. They only said that the news was being checked
