This year 16th of every month has been marked as the Day of Solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners and families of the disappeared, with all those fighting for freedom and democracy in Belarus. That day the actions of solidarity have been taken in Belarus and all over the world.

16 September 2007 was not an exception .In Minsk in the Vostok dwelling area activists of the civil campaign “Jeans- for Freedom” took the action of solidarity with political prisoners. 85 people lined up and marched from the “Vostok” underground station along Kalinouskaga Street up to its crossing with Kedishka Street. The column of marchers was opened with the street banner. “Today They-Tomorrow You!” The marchers were carrying blue ribbons and images of the disappeared politicians and political prisoners in Belarus at both sides of the column. During the action activist were distributing leaflets inviting to participation in the European March in Minsk 14 October.

At the Kedishka crossing the action finished. Youth activists installed the street banner close to the motorway and fixed the ribbons with political prisoners’ images to the bridge railing.

The action was aimed at reminding the Minskovites of the authorities’ opponents disappearing in Belarus, of political prisoners and persecuted journalists in the country.
