16 September at 8 p.m. the action of solidarity with political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich was taken in Saligorsk. 30 young people stood in line at the central square of the city holding candles and street banner
“ Freedom to Dashkevich”. In several minutes the militia raid attempted to detain several participants but the youth sat down on the grown hand-in-hand.
For around 5 minutes the militia officials consulted with their officials and the decision was made on their forced detainment. They twisted young people’s arms, pushed them severely, applied handcuffs and threw them into a patrol wagon. During the cleansing operation the people in the square were shouting “ Shame!”
5 people were detained: Andrus Tichina, Christina Samoilava, Grigory Astapenya, Ivan and Illya Shilas.
The reports were made of Christina Samoilava, Grigory Astapenya and Ivan Shila’s “participation in the unsanctioned picket” and of “their disobeying militia”. It is Christina’s second report made within a month though she is a minor: 4 September she was detained by a special militia regiment and charged of participation in the unsanctioned action. Andrus Tichina and Ivan Shila were twice detained during support action near the Saligorsk court building 4 September. Now Ivan Shila has got 6 reports that are to be judged by the courts of Saligorsk and Baranavichi: twice for “minor disorderly conduct”, “unsanctioned action”, “disobeying militia”.
