One more criminal case against Zmitser Dashkevich?

One more criminal case is brought before the court against the political prisoner, leader of “Malady Front” (Young Front) Zmitser Dashkevich. He is indicted of refusal to attest, Article 402 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. As it became known to the pressroom of Charter’97, Zmitser Dashkevich wrote about this in his letter to his friends. According to Zmitser Dashkevich, investigators of Shklou District Interior Department demanded Dashkevich to attest against a young activist Ivan Shyla, who was accused of “activity on behalf of an unregistered organization”.

It is to be mentioned that he was brought before the court on the same Article and he was given a warning.

Zmitser Dashkevich also said that investigators warned him that the young activist can be imprisoned for 6 months more.

1 November 2006 the leader of “Malady Front” was condemned to a year and a half imprisonment in a colony with a strict regime. The leader “Malady Front” was accused of violation of “political” article of the Criminal Code - Article 193 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (“Activity on behalf of an unregistered organization”).

Zmitser Dashkevich serves his sentence in Shklou colony with a strict regime. He works at a saw mill. The leader’s health has gone bad because of hard work.
