Mikalai Statkevich: We Can Get through Problems on Our Own

The Belarusians should not rely only on help of the West.

Former political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich wrote on Facebook, charter97.org reports.

"Yesterday I had a meeting with representatives of social-democratic parliamentary faction headed by Gediminas Kirkilas. I expressed my gratitude for solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners. We also discussed relarions between Belarus and the EU. Colleagues show their intention to freeze European "so-called sanctions" for a set term. It is, perhaps, connected with the struggle between the Baltic countries for the export of Belarusian potassium and petroleum through their ports. But there is no one to blame. We should solve our problems on our own.

Nevertheless, we've decided to hold talks at all interparty levels to clearly understand each other's positions," the politician writes.
