Ales Mikhalevich: I Face from 5 to 15 Years in Prison
Ales Mikhalevich

The presidential ex-candidate is still of the accused status for participation in the Square, December 19, 2010.

As earlier reported, Ales Mikhalevich wrote a motion to dismiss his criminal case. But it was not satisfied. Then he decided to appeal against it in Prosecutor's Office.

"I appealed against the decision to close my criminal case. The complaint was directed to the Investigative Committee and it should have inspected its own activity and did not find any violations. Well, my status did not change: I am still accused of mass disorders and may face from 5 to 15 years," the politician wrote on Facebook today.

Ales Mikhalevich was detained overnight into December 20, 2010. After two months in the KGB remand prison he was released. A week later he made a sensational statement about tortures in the remand prison and the way he was being recruited. After a while Mikhalevich secretly left for Czech Republic and obtained political refugee status. The politician returned to Belarus on September 8, 2015.
