Nadezhda Savchenko: Sviatlana Alexievich Is the Daughter of Great Belarusian Nation

The Ukrainian pilot thanked the Belarusian writer for support.

Nadezhda Savchenko who is now tried in Donetsk, Rostov region, Russia replied the Nobel prize winner Sviatlana Alexievich.

Earlier correspondent of Radio Svaboda sent the Ukrainian pilot extracts from the writer's interview. The writer expressed resentment by abduction of Nadezhda Savchenko and her trial.

In return the Ukrainian thanked for attitude towards her country and herself.

"Thank you very much for the excerpt from Sviatlana Alexievich's interview, she wrote. - Russia calls her a Soviet writer, Petro Poroshenko calls her Ukrainian, but she's the daughter of a great and decent Belarusian nation! She deserved the right to make the world speak of her Motherland and her nation! There is no need to hog the cover of fame. I am very happy for this person and respect her activity. Unfortunately, I haven't read her books yet. But I have already ordered them to prison.

Nadezhda Savchenko, who served in Aidar volunteer battalion, was captured by pro-Russian separatists in Luhansk region last summer and then sent to Russia. She's been to Russian remand prison since summer 2014. In December the Ukrainian went on a hunger strike against her arrest. After 82 days on strike, March 5, she decided to partially suspend it, her lawyers said. On March the lawyer informed that she didn't feel better. In her turn, Savchenko threatened to continue the hunger strike, in case doctors would not be allowed to her.

Savchenko is a people's deputy of Ukraine in Fatherland party. She is also a deputy of the PACE.
