Ukrainian Journalists Detained and Accused

Representatives of creative union Last Barricade were questioned and searched for 5 hours.

It happened while passing the Belarusian border. Ukrainians were accused of carrying extremist materials.

Alexander Doni, leader of the Union, wrote it on his Facebook page, charter97.org reports.

"Representatives of Last Barricade were being searched and questioned for five hours. Five of us with journalist certificates were travelling to Vilnius trough Belarus. We were accused of carrying extremist literature and audio materials," he wrote.

The Ukrainians were confiscated five disks of the documentary "Ukrainian Revolution" (liberation movement of 1917-1921) by Ivan Kanivts, and Music Hundred, Maidan and Last Barricade disks and one about Holodomor.

"Besides, there were seized 11 different books of Levko Lukyanenko (he presented them after special episode with him) such as: "Confessions from Death Ward", "From Khokhol to Ukrainian", "Marshal Zhukov. Ukrainians in the World War II", Alexander Doni writes.

He says cameras, video camera and tripod raised a certain border guards' concern.

"Last Barricade inscription was considered damaging. They were ordered to tear it off. For Belarus our songs and the hero Levko Lukyanenko, Holodomor are extremism. I advise against travelling through Belarus. It's the USSR territory with "Russian peace" and savour of Russia," Alexander Doni adds.
