Aliaksei Yanukevich: Be Ready to Defend Freedom by All Means

On November 28 Slutsk hosted a commemorative action devoted to 95th anniversary of the Slutsk Uprising.

The event organized by the BPF Party and Young Front began near the Slutsky regional museum. Then people walked to the city park. There they held a rally in memory of participants in the Slutsk Uprising of 1920, BelaPAN reports.

The international public association Young Front (Czech Republic) conducted an honorary oath by new activists of the organization.

The Slutsk Uprising was the attempt to defend an independence of Belarus in the Slutsk district. In November-December military units formed up mainly from the locals opposed Soviet troops.

"14 people take an oath while anniversary of the Slutsk Uprising. Some of them were members of Young Front, some were not. Anyway, it is a symbolic gesture that inspires. It needs more efforts to fights for freedom and independence," Dzmitry Dashkevich, one of the leaders of the Young Front, said.

"Today we do not only pay tribute to the memory. We also want to recall about heroic pages in our history. In times of such challenges we must be ready to defend our freedom and future by all means," Aliaksei Yanukevich, Chairman of the BPF Party, stated.
