“Dziady” March Authorized In Minsk

The rally will start near the building of the Minsk Watch Plant, at 11:00 am on October 30.

Minsk authorities have allowed the march to Kurapaty. The street rally on the occasion of the day of commemoration of the dead "Dziady" will take place on Sunday, October 30. The Conservative Christian Party Belarusian Popular Front (BNF) is the organizer of the event.

According to Radio Svaboda, the Minsk city executive committee permitted the gathering of participants in front of the building of Minsk Watch Plant at 11.00. From 11.00 to 15.00 the people will be marching through the streets of the capital to Kurapaty, where it is scheduled to hold a meeting up to 17.00. The organizers urged participants to bring their own white-red-white flags, flowers, candles and banners. After the rally there will be set up a wooden cross, which the rally participants will carry all the way to Kurapaty.

Kurapaty the best known memorial site in Belarus, where victims of Stalin's repressions were massively buried.
