The Belarusian citizens think that the Minister of Internal Affairs has been failing to perform his professional official duties.

The authors of the petition, published at the change.org service, claim that the officers of the laws-enforcement authorities do not abide to the law “On Internal Affairs Bodies”, according to which, the law-enforcement officers are obliged to protect the lives and health of the citizens, secure the order, and act basing on the principles of legality and humanism, Solidarity writes.

The message says that the Belarusian society has been “steered and shocked by the news about the crimes committed by the officers of the internal affairs bodies” lately.

The activists set an example of a series of scandalous incidents involving the Belarusian police that have occurred in the recent time. Among them, they recall beating of physician Dzmitry Serada in his apartment, the death of Ihar Barbashynski in the remand prison in Zhodzina, and beating of the “Young Front” leader Zmitser Dashkevich during an action in November.

-These several episodes in 2016 remain just a tip of the iceberg, a small share of the crimes, behind which stand the officers of the internal affairs bodies, - the authors of the petition write. – We are asking a question to you, the citizen of the Republic of Belarus, the Minister who bears all the responsibility for the actions of his subordinates, did you and your Ministry announce some war against the Belarusian people? Why do your officers violate the constitutional rights of the citizens en masse, torture the people, and remain unpunished?”

The initiators of the campaign plan to collect about 5 thousand signatures and send them to Ihar Shunevich personally.
