“Russian World” Adept Detained In Minsk

Associate Professor of humanities at the BSUIR Yury Paulavets has been detained in the framework of the case on inciting ethnic hatred.

According to the sources of the Belarusian Partisan, Associate Professor of humanities department at the BSUIR Yury Paulavets, renowned for his West-Russianism and struggle with “Russophobia”, has been detained in the framework of the case on inciting ethnic hatred.

Yury Paulavets’ friends say that he was detained on December 6 near his house and delivered to the Investigatory Committee in the framework of the investigation of the criminal case, started under Article 130 of the Criminal case of the Republic of Belarus.

Nobody answers Yury Paulavets’ phone now, and he is absent from work at the BSUIR. The Investigatory Committee has neither confirmed nor refuted the information about his detention. They have promised to provide information later though.

Yury Paulavets is an author of such resources as Regnum, Zapadnaya Rus, Russkaya Pravda etc. He is also a member of the IMHOclub.by. Mr. Paulavets criticizes Belarusian nationalism and remains an adept of the “Russian world”.

As there has been no official information so far, we can only guess about the concrete reasons of starting the criminal case.
