Sole Trader To Lukashenka: You And Your Son Often Appear In Public In Imported Clothes

The reader has offered to the dictator to start import substitution with himself and his family.

A reader of charter97.org website Andrei Kirylchyk has sent a letter to the editor in which he appealed to Lukashenka in relation with his harsh statements about the “bandits sole traders.” Below we publish the full text of his letter:

I’d like to address our so-called President Aliaksandr Lukashenka through the website charter97.org.

You, Mr. President, have assaulted imports. You say that traders destroyed the light industry. But I would like to look at this problem from a different angle. You are very good at snubbing and slagging off traders and imported clothes on the TV screen. But even on TV one can often see you and your son wearing imported clothes. Maybe you should have started import substitution with yourself and your family?!

It’s easy to snub and slag import wearing not exactly a “Luch” watch. And it looks like you are not eager to change your Maybach or Mercedes for a Belarusian-Chinese car!

I can also remind you about Nike clothes, that you and your family are so fond of. Do you have any idea where it comes from into your wardrobe? I am sure the Charter readers would also like to find out, that your service staff got it for you in one of Nike brand shops in Minsk at the wholesale prices.

Sorry, but the Belarusian light industry should first learn how to produce high-quality modern, trendy goods, and then we'll buy them. We tend to buy imported sneakers, shoes, T-shirts because here they make absolute shit (let me call a spade a spade).

Young people won’t wear Lida sneakers, as Converses are cooler!

And no bans or certificates would stop people from buying a really high quality fashion item.
