Online-store seller: Belarusians Will Have To Count Every Ruble

Restrictions on the import of parcels not only shocked ordinary Belarusians, but also put sole traders at a stand.

The much talked-of initiative of the officials concerning restricting of the cross-border e-commerce not only shocked ordinary Belarusians, who are used to buy cheap goods in Chinese and American online stores, but also put sole traders at a stand, Salidarnasts writes.

– We don’t plan to stop trading, we will see how the situation develops further, – Uladzislau Biaspalau, a sole trader providing services on ordering goods from Ebay, says. – I think that an ordering boom is coming, when people will be ordering things that they planned to buy in the future to save some money. But no one knows what will happen after that.

According to the sole trader, demand for his services was much higher previously, as “people were ordering absolutely everything they saw”, but after the rise of US dollar exchange rate, people buy only when the need arises.

– All kind of small items made in China are top sellers today. It can be anything: some accessories for nail design, mobile phone covers and protective films, flash sticks and video recorders, etc., – he continues. – Now some questions will arise even at ordering cheap goods. The problem is that an original package often contains indication of a cost per several pieces and this can lead to exceeding of the limit of 22 Euros.

The sole trader thinks that Belarusians will have to count every ruble now.

– The price of clothes, equipment and other goods can rise approximately by 50% for our customers, - he says.
