Since 1996 the OSCE observers have never recognized “elections” in Belarus to be transparent and democratic.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka has given instructions to set up an interagency expert group to study the OSCE recommendations and come up with proposals regarding their application as soon as possible.

He set this task during the meeting with the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidziya Yarmoshina today, BelTA informs.

“We need to briefly discuss the results of the 2015 Presidential election as they were presented by the OSCE/ODIHR mission, – Lukashenka said.

He pointed out that it took OSCE/ODIHR unusually long – three and a half months – to prepare the final report on the 2015 presidential elections in Belarus.

“It took them a lot of time. And I have noticed that the final report has no difference with the interim one. Still, it contains some recommendations, requirements,” – Lukashenka noted.

Lidziya Yarmoshina said that the interagency group of experts will be established today (February 12). The Central Election Commission will monitor the work of the group, which is expected to submit proposals regarding the OSCE recommendations in a month.

Lidziya Yarmoshina noted to journalists that the CEC will sum up the recommendations of the interagency expert group and present its proposals on how to improve the election process to the head of the state ahead of the parliamentary elections.

“Nevertheless I can definitely tell you, that, of course, we are not talking about changing the electoral law in the near future. The given proposals will be implemented by improving enforcement practice, which is determined by methodological explanations of the CEC,” – the chairman of the CEC stressed.

Lidziya Yarmoshyna turned attention to the fact, that the international partners wished Belarus to take these recommendations most seriously. “And in the first place this is the demonstration of our seriousness and our attention,” – she said.
