“One Is Shooting”: Andrus Takindanh Wrote Song About War In Ukraine

1

The song was written during a plein air of Belarusian artists in a war-torn Ukrainian village.

TV channel Belsat presented Belarusian musician Andrus Takindanh’s music video to a song “One Is Shooting”, Radio Svaboda reports. The clip includes documental fragments shot in Peski (Donetsk region of Ukraine) during a plein air of Belarusian painters, which took place in November 2015.

“Andrus Takindanh’s song was actually written during the open-air, – director of Belsat Anton Tsialezhnikau says. – On the last day before leaving Andrus called me and sang the first verse of the song. As he's a creative person he was very impressed with what he saw in Ukraine. His experiences and feelings he conveyed in this song, which became a music track for my reporting.”

The idea of the open-air was the immortalization of the guys from the tactical group “Belarus” Aliaksandr Charkashyn and Vital Tselizhenka killed during the anti-terrorist operation and other defenders of Ukrainian sovereignty. Six Belarusian artists and Taras Nosar from Donetsk took part in the open air. About fifty paintings were created during the open-air, they were later exhibited in the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk.
