Two Mahilyou Dwellers Told To Pay $6000 In Tax For Foreign-Source Income

The taxes have been charged for an author’s fee and a poker prize.

In Mahilyou two men had declared their income from abroad, and now they are to pay Br118 million in income tax, reports the inspection of the Ministry of Taxation in Mahilyou region.

One of them, a 30-year-old dweller of the city, received Br495.4 million in royalties last year. He is to pay Br64.4 million in taxes.

The second, a 39-year-old unemployed man, has declared a gambling gain for Br410.1 million. He is to pay Br53.3 in taxes.

In total, 220 tax returns have been sent to the regional inspection of the Ministry of Taxation in Mahilyou, and people have been charged Br724.9 million in taxes.

Mahilyou dwellers are to settle their accounts with the state until May 16, 2016.

Earlier charter97.org website reported that a dweller of Mahilyou had been charged Br545 million in income tax “on debts.”

“The tax on debts had been introduced in Belarus since 2015. This tax is paid by citizens who in their tax returns wrote that borrowed money were their source of income. Sums borrowed from natural persons who are not close relatives or sole traders, citizens of other states or foreign organisations, are taxed.
