In Hrodna, activists have collected several hundred signatures for abolition of the obligatory installation of the tax authorities monitors.

The appeal will be directed to the Council of Ministers, the National Bank, and Lukashenka’s administration. The taxi-drivers have been demanding to reconsider the government’s regulation on introduction of this additional control tool further to the existing taximeter, for several months.

Hrodna activists addressed to the regional officials many times, but in vain. The taxi-drivers of Vitsebsk and Minsk regions share the discontent of Hrodna dwellers, as one of the signature collector Siarhei Verameyenka has told Radio Racyja.

“The campaign is progressing on the quiet. Minsk region has joined us. Vitsebsk region has also joined thanks to the website taxist.by. They are collecting signatures and will send them to their city executive committees, to the Council of Ministers and Lukashenka’s administration. The regulation is active. It is coming into force literally in a month. The automobiles with no monitors installed will not be allowed to conduct passenger carriage,” the activist has said.

The taxi-drivers believe that the recently imposed obligation that a taxi-driver should have a bank terminal also remains ineffective.
