Azarenka Becomes Best WTA Player In March

A Belarusian Victoria Azarenka has become the best tennis player in March, WTA website informs.

Belarusian No. 1 in tennis won two titles at Premiere tournaments last month – in Indian Wells and Miami.

These achievements allowed her to come up from the 8th to 5th position in the WTA rating. The Belarusian has 20 titles in total to her credit.

According to the results of the voting at the WTA website, Azarenka has become the third tennis player in history who is Sunshine Double winner (victories in Indian Wells and Miami one after the other), and she won 70% of votes. The second comes Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia), who was the rival of the Belarusian in the final of Miami Open – 17%.

World No.1 Serena Williams (US) came third – 13% of votes.
