The total number of employees of the industrial giants decreased from 124 to 116 thousand people.

Nasha Niva has compared how the number of workers at the country’s 50 biggest industrial enterprises changed – from Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) with 17 535 employees to Barysau Plant of Medical Preparations (2686 employees).

Most frequently, they are township-forming enterprises, so their success determines well-being of whole habitated areas.

For a year, the total number of employees at these top-50 industrial enterprises shortened from 271 to 259 thousand people.

The crisis caused the most painful impact to the overmanned top-10 enterprises like MAZ and Minsk Tractor Plant (MTZ). Their aggregate quantity of employees decreased from 124 to 116 thousand people.
