The former “deputy” from Mahiliou, who used to head the Housing, Maintenance and Utilities Administration, caused the Br 11 million damage to the communal enterprise.

The former “deputy” of Mahiliou city council Dzmitry Birukou, who used to head the Housing, Maintenance and Utilities Administration of Kastrychnitski district of Mahiliou, has been freed from criminal responsibility after Lukashenka’s decision on pardon. The regional public prosecutor’s office has confirmed this information to BelaPAN news agency.

Senior Assistant of Public prosecutor of Mahiliou region Alena Shumeika has informed that the criminal case under Part 1 Article 210 (embezzlement by abuse of professional duties) and Part 2 Article 424 (abuse of power or official duties) of the Criminal Code, started against Birukou, was investigated. According to her, in 2015 the convict appealed to Aliaksandr Lukashenka with a pardon request and the request was satisfied in the end of this winter.

“He didn’t rebut the fact of having committed the crimes and fully recompensed the damage he had caused to the enterprise,” — Shumeika has said.

Let us note, Dzmitry Birukou, non-party, was elected a “deputy” of Mahiliou City Council of the 27th convocation back in 2014. He also ran for member of Mahiliou Regional Council, but he wasn’t elected there.

We remind, in November 2014 it became known that the “deputy” of Mahiliou City Council, Director of the Housing, Maintenance and Utilities Administration of Kastrychnitski district of Mahiliou, suspected in corruption, had been put under arrest. The investigation found out he had consistently abused his official duties and caused the Br 11 million damage to the communal enterprise.
