Fundraising For Monument To Ales Cherkashyn Continues

On August 28 it will have been a year since the Belarusian hero died.

It is planned to erect a monument at the place, where Belarusian volunteer Ales Cherkashyn is buried, on his death anniversary. The project of the monument has been created by Belarusian sculptor Henik Loika.

Most of the money has been raised, but another $ 1,000 is needed. Everyone has the opportunity to help with this worthy initiative.

We remind that 33-year-old Belarusian, former chairman of the Brest city organization of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party Ales Cherkashyn fought in the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps “Right sector.” On August 10, 2015 he was severely wounded in the battle at Belokamenka in Donbass, and died in a hospital in Kiev after a few weeks of coma.

He was posthumously awarded the Order of “National Hero of Ukraine.” A memorial sign to him, his Ukrainian sworn brother Vitaly Tilizhenko and Belarusian Mikhail Zhyzneuski has been installed in Kiev. Also there is a memorial website dedicated to Belarusians, who died in the Donbass conflict, in Vitebsk BCD members planted trees in their memory.

Cherkashyn was buried in Brest, hundreds of people came to give their last respect to the hero.
