Mobilization of squadron of officers against four battalions of NATO is a waste of budget.
Political observer Raman Yakauleuski told charter97.org commenting on yesterday announcement of Lukashenka to mobilize reserve officers:
- Lukashenka has already mobilized a whole squadron of reserve officers: this is a "symmetric" response to those who placed four battalions in the Baltic States and Poland .
It cannot be taken seriously: "entire" squadron of 100 people against 4 battalions.
It is not surprising: it is done not for the first time. Now this is a psychological maneuver: The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus are "increased" by an "entire squadron" of reserve officers.
Otherwise, this figure cannot be taken.
- Do these measures have no real counterweight to NATO?
- They do not bolster the Belarusian army against those who, according to the Belarusian doctrine, "poses a threat".
These officers cannot change the situation.
Here is another question: how much money will it take to support these officers? We know that the state experience economic hardships and even squadron of officers costs enough.
I would like to ask the authorities: how much will this campaign cost? I emphasize: not soldiers, but officers. I would like to know this figure.
I am convinced that in military terms these officers cannot be difference makers. So, we have a right to know the cost of the campaign. It is neither military nor state secret. And I'd like to receive an answer.
As far as I know, students of military departments buy clothes on their own, but mobilized officers are unlikely to do it. I wonder what kind of forces they will serve in. The cost of equipment for every branch differs.
Therefore, here is a question: how much this campaign which makes no real counterweight to four battalions of NATO costs.
