The KGB had been hiding the businessmen’s arrest for four months.

The trial on the case of Uladzimir and Kazbek Yapryntsau has started on Monday in the Central district court of Minsk.

The father and the son Yapryntsau are charged with committing a crime prescribed in Part 4 Article 209 of the Criminal Code — fraud. There is one more involvant in the criminal case — Aliaksandr Arabian, an employee of the “Triple” group of companies.

As it became known in the court today, co-owner of the “Triple” holding Uladzimir Yapryntsau and his son had been arrested back on August 11, 2015. The KGB officially confirmed their arrest only in December, tut.by informs.

Head of the State Security Committee Valery Vakulchyk has informed to the journalists that the note on illegal activity committed by Uladzimir Yapryntsau received by the KGB in summer 2015 was sent by Belarusian businessman Yury Chyzh and two of his partners from Russia. Yury Chyzh himself was arrested later.

Two of the three complaintants appeared in court. The first one is Poland’s resident, 36-year-old director of the “Gastrans” company Andrei Rabtsevich. He said he had direct financial relations with Uladzimir Yapryntsau and that the assets over the loan agreement between the individuals had never been returned.

The lawyer of Uladzimir Yapryntsau came up with a request. He doubted that Rabtsevich could participate in the court trial as a complaintant but judge Mikhail Khoma declined the request.

A large group of athletes, mostly wrestlers, arrived in court to support Uladzimir Yapryntsau. Before his arrest the businessman used to head the federations of judo and unarmed self-defence. They asked to take into consideration numerous merits of Uladzimir Yapryntsau.

State public prosecutor Sharstniou stated that Kazbek Yapryntsau, starting from July 2013 till March 2014, acting with a criminal intention in a group with Uladzimir Yapryntsau, Aliaksandr Arabian and Isaac Papadopulos (the citizen of Greece who had escaped from the investigation), committed a fraud against Russian businessman Yuri Saviak, having acquired the assets of the mentioned citizen and his Austrian company, with no intention to return the assets acquired under the signed contract between “Triple” and the Austrian company for shipment of up to 20 tons of residual oil for the sum of $ 10 million. Yapryntsau-junior, Arabian and Papadopulos, in continuation of their illegal actions, with no intention to fulfill the obligations, organized signing of the contract for another 16 tons of oil products for the sum of $ 15 million. They used an identical scheme against Rabtsevich, whom they had offered shipment of air fuel for the sum of $ 3 million.

The third complaintant is employee of the “Vitalur” company Andrei Mikhnevich, who used to be a famous Belarusian track-and-field athlete, world champion in shot-put. The sum of the damage is $440K.

Speaking about proofs, state public prosecutor Yury Sharstniou noted that those were the testimonies given by the three accused, as well as by Saviak, Rabtsevich, Yury Chyzh and President of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili.
